Housing Development



Housing Development’s mission is to use our housing development/ construction management expertise to acquire/ rehabilitate/ develop quality affordable housing and community facilities, to strengthen communities, and to support Chinatown CDC’s other programs.

The primary role of the division is to participate in the strengthening of communities through the creation of new affordable housing using its development/ construction expertise. Working with new agencies in new neighborhoods, or with established but housing-inexperienced service providers or neighborhood-serving groups, will be a priority of this direction. Rather than viewing technical assistance to others as a distraction from our core role in expanding Chinatown CDC’s ownership and control of housing, technical assistance/ partnership development will be the majority of the work we do, with projects expanding Chinatown CDC’s ownership role continuing to play an important but minority role. To realize this goal, Housing Development will actively pursue partnerships with other organizations and more actively promote its services as a developer.
